Soccer Game Preview: McNeil vs. Vandegrift

McNeil is 0-9 against Vandegrift since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The McNeil Mavericks will look to defend their home pitch against the Vandegrift Vipers at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

McNeil will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Stony Point on Friday. McNeil came out on top against Stony Point by a score of 4-2. Considering the Mavericks' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Vandegrift kept a clean sheet against Vista Ridge on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Rangers. The Vipers haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Brooke Cansler and Eva Pensamiento scored both of Vandegrift's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 18 goals.

The win got McNeil back to even at 7-7. As for Vandegrift, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
