Baseball Game Preview: Dover-Sherborn Raiders vs. Dedham Marauders

Dover-Sherborn is 2-8 against Dedham since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Marauders at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Dover-Sherborn and Hopkinton meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Hillers with a sharp 8-2 victory.

The team relied heavily on Matt Bowen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Dover-Sherborn is 4-1 when Bowen posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Forman, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dedham). They were the clear victors by a 16-10 margin over Medfield on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Marauders, who have now won four games in a row.

Dedham pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Dover-Sherborn, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Everything went Dover-Sherborn's way against Dedham when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Dover-Sherborn made off with a 16-4 win. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marauders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
