Game recap: Central High School Football Team tops Gainesville

MaxPreps GAINESVILLE High School Football.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Gainesville (Fla.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 3 in Florida, but was stunned by Central (Miami, Fla.), 37-14. Central was ranked at No. 6 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Florida coming into the week.

After taking the lead on a field goal by Emilio Nadelmen in the first quarter, the Rockets led 27-7 at the half.

Central expanded its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Dalvin Cook.



Cook and Joseph Yearby ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Hurricanes. Cook scored two touchdowns on the ground and Yearby added two as well.

Gainesville's Rapheal Webb played well. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.

The Miami school's most effective player was Nadelmen. The senior kicked three field goals and three extra points.

GHS came in giving up 13.5 points per game this season. Led by Ahmad Thomas, the Rockets came in allowing an average of 20.6 points per game this season.

The loss comes after Gainesville defeated Navarre 62-26 last week.

The Hurricanes (15-1) faces off against Central in a playoff game their next time out. The Rockets go into the week with a record of 11-2.
