Palm Desert waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Xavier Prep Saints. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-2 on Tuesday.

Jake Brande spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mason Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Palm Desert's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Xavier Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Palm Desert will take on Brawley in a tournament on Monday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Aztecs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Xavier Prep, they will be taking part in a tournament against Newbury Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
