Softball Recap: Karns City Gremlins vs. Freeport Yellowjackets
Karns City fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Freeport on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Freeport Yellowjackets, falling 10-4. The Gremlins haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Addison Burrows was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Burrows was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Ronni Radaker was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Karns City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Freeport, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Karns City will host Brookville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Freeport, they will challenge East Allegheny at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
