Recap: New Prairie Cougars vs. La Porte Slicers
The New Prairie Cougars lost against the La Porte Slicers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. New Prairie fell 46-36 to La Porte. While losing is never fun, New Prairie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while La Porte is ranked 101st).
Despite the defeat, New Prairie had strong showings from Reece Lapczynski, who scored 11 points along with 4 steals, and Colton Griffiths, who scored 10 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead La Porte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nic Spence, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Rylan Kieszkowski was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for New Prairie and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for La Porte, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.
New Prairie will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Penn at 6:30 p.m. Penn is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for La Porte, they will head out on the road to face off against South Bend Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
