Basketball Recap: Riverton Parke Takes a Loss

If Riverton Parke was riding high fresh off their 47-26 takedown of Attica last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Riverton Parke Panthers had to suffer through a 61-34 loss at the hands of the North Central Thunderbirds. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Thunderbirds recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Riverton Parke lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kenzie Nowicki, who posted no points along with eight blocks and six assists. The dominant performance gave Nowicki a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Burleson, who had eight points.

North Central had a senior duo take command as Shelby Seay went 8 of 17 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds and Jalyn Davidson went 5 for 10 en route to 15 points along with seven assists and six steals. The matchup was Davidson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Hannah Stepp was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Riverton Parke's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for North Central, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Riverton Parke has already played their next game, a 60-36 victory against South Vermillion on the 25th. As for North Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-29 win against North Vermillion on the 25th.
