Volleyball Recap: Winnetonka Takes a Loss

Winnetonka lost against Excelsior Springs back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Griffins took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Griffins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The final score came out to 25-15, 19-25, 25-14, 25-15.

Bailey Bircher paced Winnetonka's offense, picking up 11 kills. Bircher got some help from Shayla Nguyen and her 21 assists. Emily Nguyen controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Winnetonka's loss dropped their record down to 9-12-1. As for Excelsior Springs, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 7-14-1.

Winnetonka and Excelsior Springs could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Griffins will take on Lincoln College Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (306 vs. 148). Meanwhile, Excelsior Springs (ranked 249th) will meet Bishop LeBlond (ranked 51st) at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
