Basketball Game Preview: Cahokia Comanches vs. Mt. Vernon Rams

Cahokia hasn't had much luck against Mt. Vernon recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Comanches just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Rams at 7:30 p.m. Cahokia has given up an average of 51.8 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cahokia is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Jacksonville on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Comanches were outmatched by the Crimsons and fell 58-26. The Comanches were down 47-22 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Cahokia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dakota Bell went 7-for-11 on her way to 17 points and three steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Bell.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon came up short against Carbondale on Tuesday and fell 64-54.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Cahokia, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Cahokia took a serious blow against Mt. Vernon in their previous matchup back in January, falling 77-22. Thankfully for the Comanches, Autumn Rudd (who shot 67% from the field en route to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
