Football Game Preview: Millsap Bulldogs vs. Jacksboro Tigers

Millsap is 2-8 against Jacksboro since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Millsap has given up an average of 35.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Millsap is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 49 points back in September, they were much more limited against Holliday on Friday. They were outmatched by the Eagles and fell 52-3. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Jacksboro, as they earned their first away win of the season. They took down City View 49-34 on Friday.

Millsap better keep an eye on Wyatt Gavit. He was instrumental in Jacksboro's win, rushing for 90 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 217 yards and three TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns Gavit has posted since back in October of 2024. Kris Wicks also helped with two scores in total.

One reason for the win was Jacksboro's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. It was truly a group effort as Lucas Cornish, Will Treadway, Josh Salazar, and Jerin Luhrsen picked up two apiece. Treadway is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.

Millsap's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Jacksboro, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Millsap has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 243.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Jacksboro struggles in that department as they've been averaging 149.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Millsap was dealt a bruising 52-14 loss at the hands of Jacksboro in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
