Basketball Recap: Scales Mound Falls Despite Big Games from Aidan Soppe and Kaden Duerr

Scales Mound was the 56-46 winner over Galena when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Scales Mound Hornets fell 61-48 to the Galena Pirates on Thursday.

Scales Mound's loss came despite strong showings from Kaden Duerr and Aidan Soppe. Duerr posted 11 points in addition to five assists and three steals, while Soppe scored 14 points. Soppe has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Van Lent, who earned six points.

Scales Mound's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Galena, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.

Scales Mound has already played their next game, an 80-48 win against West Carroll on the 12th. As for Galena, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-42 victory against Fulton on the 7th.
