Soccer Game Preview: Sunnyvale vs. Wilmer-Hutchins

Sunnyvale will face off against the Wilmer-Hutchins Eagles on Monday. Sunnyvale is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.8 goals per game this season.

Sunnyvale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Farmersville 3-2. Sunnyvale hasn't had any issues with Farmersville recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Christian Hodges and Tyson Smith scored all three of Sunnyvale's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Wilmer-Hutchins brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They never let Village Tech get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Friday. Considering Wilmer-Hutchins have won nine games by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Wilmer-Hutchins pushed their record up to 13-4-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three contests. As for Sunnyvale, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Sunnyvale couldn't quite get it done against Wilmer-Hutchins in their previous matchup back in January of 2018 as they fell 3-1. Can Sunnyvale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
