Softball Recap: Magnolia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ashdown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Magnolia). They blew past Ashdown 21-0 on Monday. The win continues a trend for Magnolia in their matchups with Ashdown: they've now won three in a row.

Cheyanne Evans made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Evans was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kloey Basinger and Sophie Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Basinger fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Smith went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Basinger also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kynlee Wilkerson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Magnolia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Magnolia's record now sits at 4-1. As for Ashdown, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
