It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Newaygo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Whitehall Vikings 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Newaygo's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Whitehall, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Newaygo beat the Vikings by a score of 8-7 later that day.
