Volleyball Recap: Geneva Vikings vs. Neuqua Valley Wildcats

Geneva kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Neuqua Valley Wildcats by a score of 2-1. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Geneva started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-15, 25-23.

Emma Peterson paced Geneva's offense, picking up 11 kills. Peterson were helped by Madison Mannon and Ally Stevenson, who contributed 13 assists each. Kai Davenport controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Geneva will take on South Elgin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Neuqua Valley, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge St. Charles East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
