Soccer Recap: Golden Valley Comes Up Short

After soaring to seven goals the game before, Golden Valley was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Merced Bears by a score of 2-1. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Golden Valley's goal came courtesy of Daniel Gaona, who's now up to nine this season.

Golden Valley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1-1 and their overall record down to 6-4-2. As for Merced, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6-2 record this season.

Golden Valley didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against El Capitan on the 31st. Merced has also already played their next contest, a 4-2 loss against Atwater on the 31st.
