Close play at plate helps Grossmont win title (Slideshow)

MaxPreps professional photographer Steven Silva captured this play at the plate between Mira Mesa (San Diego) and Grossmont (El Cajon, Calif.).

Watch as catcher Hunter Stratton applies the tag to cut down runner Joey Portugal at home plate in the CIF San Diego Section D-I final. On top of being an amazing play, it also shows off an umpire at his best.

Grossmont took home the championship with a 5-2 win.
