Basketball Preview: South Delta Bulldogs vs. West Bolivar Eagles

South Delta is 1-9 against the Eagles since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Delta Bulldogs just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the West Bolivar Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Delta has 11 straight victories, the Eagles have 25 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Even though South Delta has not done well against the Choctaws recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. South Delta took down the Choctaws 51-34. South Delta pushed the score to 43-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Choctaws cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, West Bolivar came up short against the Cubs on Wednesday and fell 45-32.

South Delta pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for West Bolivar, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17.

Everything came up roses for South Delta against the Eagles in their previous meeting last Thursday as the squad secured a 40-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Delta since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
