Baseball Recap: Polytechnic Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Polytechnic and North Side meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Parrots fell just short of the Steers by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 34 runs in the game before, the Parrots couldn't push the score so high this time.

Fabian Osorio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Polytechnic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mathew Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Ruiz has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Polytechnic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14-1 record this season. As for North Side, their record now sits at 5-19.

While Polytechnic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
