Softball Game Preview: Senatobia Warriors vs. Strayhorn Mustangs

Senatobia is a perfect 8-0 against Strayhorn since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Senatobia Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Strayhorn Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Neither Senatobia nor Strayhorn posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Senatobia is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oxford.

Kelsey Hoffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, Senatobia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maci Claire Moore, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Moore a new career-high in runs.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Strayhorn's offense. They came up short against Cleveland Central on Tuesday, falling 16-0. The Mustangs have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Strayhorn now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Senatobia, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Senatobia took their win against Strayhorn when the teams last played on March 3rd by a conclusive 11-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Senatobia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
