            Volleyball Recap: Emporia Spartans vs. Great Bend Panthers        
        
		
        
        
            The home team had come away the winner the last four times Emporia and Great Bend had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Spartans fell just short of the Panthers by a score of  2-1 on Thursday. The  defeat   continues a  trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
 Emporia started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-20,  25-12.

 Emporia's loss  came despite strong showings from  Molly Williams and  Morgan McCoy.  Williams  had 19  digs and one  assist, while  McCoy  had 11  digs. With that strong performance,  Williams is now averaging an impressive 10.2  digs per game.
 Among those leading the charge was   Kimmy Hofflinger, who  had nine  digs and one  assist.
Emporia's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Great Bend, the  victory was  the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-9.
 Coincidentally, Emporia and Great Bend will both be playing Hillsboro the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Trojans at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 7:00  p.m.
