Basketball Game Preview: Red Mountain Mountain Lions vs. Gilbert Tigers

The Red Mountain Mountain Lions will square off against the Gilbert Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Red Mountain's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Gilbert has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Wednesday, Red Mountain earned a 43-35 win over Mountain View. The 43-point effort marked the Mountain Lions' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Gilbert suffered their biggest defeat since February 21, 2024 on Wednesday. They took a blow against Higley, falling 85-56. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Knights are ranked 14th).

Gilbert's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Red Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Red Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over Gilbert in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 57-50. Will Red Mountain repeat their success, or does Gilbert have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
