Baseball Recap: Tussey Mountain Find Success

Tussey Mountain owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Camden Chilcote's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tussey Mountain is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Jones, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. He has become a key player for Tussey Mountain: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Aidan Lane was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Tussey Mountain's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4.

Coming up, Tussey Mountain will welcome Moshannon Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they will head out on the road to take on West Branch at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
