Glenwood has gone a perfect 6-0 against Quincy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Titans will head out to face off against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Glenwood will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.
Glenwood came out on top against Waterloo on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run second inning. The Titans put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 15-0 win. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by six runs or more this season.
Glenwood got a great performance from Alyvia Streb as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Streb has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ryleigh Kiel was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Sophia Whitten also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Glenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Quincy earned an 8-4 victory over Sacred Heart-Griffin on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Cyclones: they've now won three in a row.
Izzy Weppler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Maggie Neally was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Avary Hlubek, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Glenwood pushed their record up to 27-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy, their record now sits at 12-19.
Quincy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Glenwood has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Quincy, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Glenwood's sizable advantage in that area, the Blue Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
Glenwood took their victory against Quincy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
