Softball Recap: East Bay Has No Trouble Against Lennard

East Bay won the last time they faced Lennard and things went their way on Thursday too. East Bay put the hurt on Lennard with a sharp 13-5 win. Considering the Indians have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jensen Nelson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamiira Austin, who scored four runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Molly Johnson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for East Bay and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Lennard, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

East Bay and Lennard will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time East Bay sees the field they'll take on Sumner at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th. As for Lennard, their break will end when they face Plant City at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th.
