Volleyball Game Preview: Las Vegas Wildcats vs. Legacy Longhorns

The Las Vegas Wildcats will face off against the Legacy Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Las Vegas is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Mojave just ended the team's nine-match winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Rattlers by a score of 3-2. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rattlers 25-20 in the first set.

While Las Vegas ultimately came up short, they really made Mojave work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 20-25, 26-24, 25-22, 24-26, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Las Vegas had strong showings from Veanka Escobedo, who had 17 digs and three assists, and Aaliyah Jones, who had 16 kills, 12 digs, and two aces. Jones is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 25 games she's played.

Meanwhile, Legacy made easy work of Somerset Academy Losee on Monday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Las Vegas' defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 18-9. As for Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 8-15.

Las Vegas took their victory against Legacy in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
