After both having extra time off, the Orangewood Christian Rams and the Trinity Christian Academy Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Orangewood Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Altamonte Christian with a sharp 17-1 win last Thursday. The Rams have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Reagan Watkins was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Snelson, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Orangewood Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .714. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles last Thursday. Everything went Trinity Christian Academy's way against Edgewater as Trinity Christian Academy made off with a 23-4 victory. Considering Trinity Christian Academy has won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Trinity Christian Academy let Nataly Martinez and Athena Velez run wild. Martinez scored four runs while going 4-for-4, while Velez went 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. Martinez also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Leigha Winters, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Trinity Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.8 runs. Orangewood Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Orangewood Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Orangewood Christian skirted past Trinity Christian Academy 7-6 in their previous matchup back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Orangewood Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
