Basketball Game Preview: Northeastern Knights vs. Hagerstown Tigers

Northeastern is 10-0 against Hagerstown since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Northeastern Knights will welcome the Hagerstown Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Northeastern knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Hagerstown likes a good challenge.

Northeastern is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Cambridge City Lincoln: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Northeastern's way against Cambridge City Lincoln on Thursday as Northeastern made off with a 71-48 win. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Noah Payne was his usual excellent self, going 12 of 17 en route to 29 points and six assists. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tre Vanlandingham, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points and seven assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Northeastern was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambridge City Lincoln only racked up 13 assists.

Meanwhile, Hagerstown didn't have quite enough to beat Union City on Friday and fell 50-47.

Hagerstown has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Northeastern, their victory bumped their record up to 17-1.

Everything came up roses for Northeastern against Hagerstown in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 70-32 win. Does Northeastern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hagerstown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
