Baseball Game Preview: General McLane Lancers vs. Cathedral Prep Ramblers

General McLane is 0-10 against Cathedral Prep since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lancers will venture away from home to face off against the Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. General McLane will be strutting in after a win while Cathedral Prep will be coming in after a defeat.

While Lancers fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's season opener. Everything went their way against Wellston last Friday as they made off with a 7-0 victory.

Wellston's batters probably weren't too happy with Kellen Chelton, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (he gave up two walks).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlie Swanson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jackson Kiser, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Cathedral Prep suffered their closest loss since May 10, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of ALA - West Foothills by a score of 13-11. The Ramblers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

KJ Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Jacob Koshan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

General McLane couldn't quite get it done against Cathedral Prep when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
