Basketball Recap: Vineland Takes a Loss

Vineland lost against Ocean City back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Vineland Fighting Clan fell 49-42 to the Ocean City Raiders.

Leading Ocean City to victory were Naomi Nnewihe and Scarlett Fletcher. Nnewihe dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Fletcher posted 11 points. The dominant performance also gave Fletcher a new career-high in steals (two). Marley Ostrander was another key player, putting up four points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Vineland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Ocean City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.

Vineland has already played their next contest (against Cedar Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ocean City and Mainland Regional will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
