Softball Recap: Pocatello Starts Season with Win on the Road

Pocatello had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Twin Falls Bruins 18-5 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won six in a row.

Charlie Naylor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Azlin Bullock and Jakobi Nebeker did most of the damage at the plate: Bullock went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles, while Nebeker scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Bullock a new career-high in doubles. Another player making a difference was Oakley Hirschi, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Pocatello always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Twin Falls only posted an OBP of .370.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pocatello beat Twin Falls by a score of 10-3 later that day.
