Durango hasn't had much luck against Desert Oasis recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
If Durango beats Desert Oasis with 16 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went the Trailblazers' way against Western last Thursday as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The Trailblazers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Leiah Biscocho was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Suriya Lazarakis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Durango always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Desert Oasis faced Sierra Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Thursday. The Diamondbacks never let the Mountain Lions get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. Fans of the Diamondbacks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Alissa Perkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Perkins was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Kaitlyn Dunigan was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Veyda Simon was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
The win got Durango back to even at 2-2. As for Desert Oasis, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Durango has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Desert Oasis struggles in that department as they've averaged .671. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Durango couldn't quite finish off Desert Oasis in their previous matchup back in April of 2019 and fell 11-9. Can the Trailblazers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
