Baseball Recap: North Central Takes a Loss

North Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the Parke Heritage Wolves. If the Thunderbirds were looking for revenge after losing 15-5 to the Wolves when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

North Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Schultz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That RBI was Schultz's first of the season.

As for Parke Heritage, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Parke Heritage's side, Jerrid Graves was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, Graves posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Josiah Heck was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. BT Luce was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

North Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-5 loss against South Putnam on the 24th. As for Parke Heritage, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Attica on the 26th.
