Basketball Game Preview: Swainsboro Tigers vs. Savannah Country Day Hornets

The Swainsboro Tigers will square off against the Savannah Country Day Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Swainsboro is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Vidalia just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 49-40 to the Indians. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Indians are ranked 125th).

Despite their defeat, Swainsboro saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. A'Acaylah Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards, was perhaps the best of all. Murphy is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tonia Ricks, who posted nine points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Savannah Country Day entered their tilt with Woodville-Tompkins last Friday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Wolverines 43-15. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 25 points or more this season.

Swainsboro now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Savannah Country Day, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
