Baseball Recap: Burkburnett Comes Up Short

Burkburnett lost against Castleberry last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Burkburnett lost 8-2 to Castleberry. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Seth Hoyle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mason Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Burkburnett's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Castleberry, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-4-1.

Coming up, Burkburnett is taking a road trip to challenge Decatur at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Castleberry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trimble Tech at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Trimble Tech's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Castleberry's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
