Baseball Game Preview: Northampton Konkrete Kids vs. Whitehall Zephyrs

The Northampton Konkrete Kids are taking a road trip to challenge the Whitehall Zephyrs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northampton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Northampton earned a 9-4 victory over Allentown Central Catholic. The win continues a trend for the Konkrete Kids in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.

Northampton got a massive performance out of Gavin Pychinka, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The Konkrete Kids are undefeated when Pychinka posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Whitehall entered their tilt with Nazareth Area on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Blue Eagles. That's two games straight that the Zephyrs have won by just one run.

Nik Christman looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tyler Sanders was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Callen Nicklas, who scored a run while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Northampton now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Whitehall, their record now sits at 6-3.

Northampton came up short against Whitehall in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 11-6. Can the Konkrete Kids avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
