It was a good run, but Holt unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Fort Zumwalt North Panthers by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 8th.
Holt actually scored more points across those five sets (104-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 16-25, 16-25, 26-24, 25-16, 16-14.
Leading Fort Zumwalt North to victory were Collin Kircher and Chase Martin. Kircher had 13 digs and three assists, while Martin had 11 kills, three digs, two blocks, and two aces. Those 11 kills gave Martin a new career-high.
Holt's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Fort Zumwalt North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10-2.
Looking ahead, Holt will head out on the road to face off against Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Zumwalt North, they will be taking part in a tournament against Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
