Basketball Recap: Logan Boone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Union County over Northeastern

Union County lost against Northeastern back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Union County Patriots fell to the Northeastern Knights 45-39. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Knights are ranked 65th).

Union County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Boone, who posted 12 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Fenton Coyle, who earned eight points.

Sam White continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northeastern, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. White is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 21 games he's played dating back to last season. Noah Payne was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Union County's record now sits at 8-10. As for Northeastern, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-1.

Union County has already played their next match, a 50-44 victory against Oldenburg Academy on the 14th. As for Northeastern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-45 win against Tri on the 14th.
