Softball Recap: Rancho Bernardo Comes Up Short

Rancho Bernardo had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 8-11-1 to make it five. They fell just short of the Mission Hills Grizzlies by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Broncos have lost by just one run.

Ellery Housand made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

As for Mission Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Mission Hills' side, their victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kennedy Dimmick, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Rancho Bernardo is set to square off against their familiar foe San Marcos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mission Hills will face off against rival Del Norte at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Grizzlies 3.3, the Nighthawks 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
