Baseball Recap: Glidden-Ralston Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Glidden-Ralston and Ar-We-Va meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rockets earlier this season, when they won 14-4.

Glidden-Ralston's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 CAM and 9-4 Woodbine (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.7% over those games). As for Ar-We-Va, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Glidden-Ralston and Ar-We-Va could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 227th) will meet CAM (ranked 61st) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Ar-We-Va will face off against Woodbine at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (288 vs. 118).
