Football Recap: Manatee's Run of Eight Straight Wins Now Over

Manatee and St. Thomas Aquinas squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Manatee had to settle for second. They fell just short of the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders by a score of 16-13. The Hurricanes were red-hot offensively headed into the match (they scored no less than 31 points in the eight contests prior) but the Raiders' defense proved too tough.

When it comes to explaining why Manatee lost, don't look at KeiShawn Smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 117 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

Andrew Indorf was his usual excellent self, throwing for 231 yards and one touchdown while completing 76.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 60 yards on only six carries for St. Thomas Aquinas.

Manatee moved to 10-2 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Manatee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they will take on Lakeland at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeland will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something St. Thomas Aquinas surely won't give up without a fight.
