Baseball Recap: Lexington Beats Olympia for Their Third Straight Win

Lexington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Olympia Spartans. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Jaxson Goodrich was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Braeden Barber was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Lexington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Lexington pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Olympia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-17 record this season.

Lexington will challenge LeRoy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Olympia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heyworth at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
