There's no place like home for Santa Gertrudis Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Banquete Bulldogs on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since April 9, 2024.

Jordan Marquez was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ian Duran also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The victory snapped Santa Gertrudis Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record. As for Banquete, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Santa Gertrudis Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Orange Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Banquete will face off against rival San Diego at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Banquete 3.8, San Diego 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
