Softball Recap: Arlington Takes a Loss

After flying high against Rancho Verde two weeks ago, Arlington came back down to earth. The Lions fell just short of the Liberty Bison by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bison this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in February.

Mia Cortez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Ryleigh Pliego also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Arlington's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Liberty, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Arlington Lions challenge Canyon Springs Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Arlington will need to watch out since Canyon Springs has now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Liberty, they will venture away from home to square off against Poly at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
