Basketball Recap: Saniya Mcfarlin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Orange Beach

There's no place like home for Pell City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Orange Beach Makos by a score of 47-39 on Monday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pell City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Saniya McFarlin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave McFarlin a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Zaniya Mitchell, who posted 12 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Pell City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.1.

Pell City's win bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Orange Beach, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pell City will take on Glencoe at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Orange Beach, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mobile Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
