Volleyball Recap: Buckeye Local Comes Up Short

Buckeye Local was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Martins Ferry Purple Riders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-16, 25-13.

Jenna DelVecchio paced Buckeye Local's offense, picking up four kills. DelVecchio got some help from Samantha Westfall and her five assists.

Buckeye Local's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Martins Ferry, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Buckeye Local has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Edison on the 3rd. As for Martins Ferry, they will face off against Wheeling Central Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
