Softball Game Preview: Lehman Catholic Cavaliers vs. Covington Buccaneers

Lehman Catholic is 0-10 against Covington since March of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Cavaliers will look to defend their home field against the Buccaneers at 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Lehman Catholic's offense. They lost 10-0 to Botkins on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Covington got the win against Catholic Central on Monday by a conclusive 23-1. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Cassidy Iddings made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayda McClure, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Ava Hartwig was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Covington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Catholic Central only posted an OBP of .391.

Covington is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Lehman Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.
