Softball Recap: Martins Ferry Purple Riders vs. Claymont Mustangs
Martins Ferry won against Claymont on Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Purple Riders beat the Mustangs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 on Wednesday.
Maddie Lucas was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
