Basketball Recap: Apex Falls Despite Big Games from Vaibhav Dandala and Zaelyn White

Apex was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. The game between them and the Apex Friendship Patriots didn't end well, with the Apex Cougars falling 73-55. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Patriots are ranked 112th).

Zaelyn White and Vaibhav Dandala certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. White went 7 of 12 en route to 19 points and four steals, while Dandala posted 12 points. That's the most points Dandala has posted since back in December of 2023. Ethan Balos also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Apex's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Apex Friendship, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Apex will host Middle Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Apex is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Apex Friendship, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-55 defeat against Green Level on the 5th.
