Volleyball Recap: Monroe Area Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Monroe Area lost against Bethlehem Christian Academy on August 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Purple Hurricanes fell 3-1 to the Knights. The Purple Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Monroe Area ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 25-17.

Ashley Phiel paced Monroe Area's offense, picking up 12 kills. Phiel got some help from Alyssa Brown and her 32 assists. Finally, Kaliyah Ansley kept Monroe Area's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Claire Gearin was nothing short of spectacular for Bethlehem Christian Academy: she had six kills, five aces, and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Gearin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Banister, who had 14 assists and two aces.

Monroe Area's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Bethlehem Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Monroe Area didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Apalachee on the 28th. As for Bethlehem Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Athens Christian on the 2nd.
